SHEPHERD’S PIE

Ingredients

300 grams mutton mince
Mashed potatoes as required
2 tbsps oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
8-10 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
2 tbsps chopped celery stick
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 cup tomato puree
2 medium carrots, cut into small cubes
Salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
1 tsp dried oregano
1½ tsps Worcestershire sauce
½ cup frozen peas
½ cup sweet corn kernels, boiled
Parsley sprig for garnish

Method

1. Preheat the oven at 180˚C.
2. Heat oil in a deep pan, add onion and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add garlic and ginger and mix well.
3. Add mutton mince and sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Add celery and tomato and mix well.
4. Add tomato puree and sauté well. Add carrots and mix.
5. Add salt, crushed black peppercorns, oregano, and Worcestershire sauce and mix well. Cover and cook till the meat is cooked completely.
6. Add frozen peas, sweet corn, and mix well. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Take it off the heat.
7. Transfer the prepared mixture into a shallow baking dish, pipe out mashed potatoes to cover the top.
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Take it out of the oven.
9. Garnish with parsley sprig and serve hot.
