Dr. Babita S Gaikwad - Shahi Bread BhallaSHAHI BREAD BHALLAIngredients10 white bread slices2 cups milkOil for deep-frying2 cups yogurt, chilled2 tablespoons tamarind chutneySalt to taste½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder½ teaspoon red chilli powderChopped fresh coriander leaves for garnishing Stuffing 2 teaspoons chopped cashewnuts2 teaspoons raisins1-2 green chillies, chopped 2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh coriander leaves 1 teaspoon chopped gingerMethod1. Soak bread slices in milk.2. To make stuffing, combine cashewnuts, raisins, chillies, chopped coriander and ginger and mix well. 3. Mash bread slices and divide into equal portions. Fill each portion with the prepared stuffing, shape them into balls and flatten a little.4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry the prepared bhallas till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. 5. Place the fried bhallas in a serving plate. Top with yogurt and tamarind chutney, sprinkle some salt, cumin powder and chilli powder.
