This Sesame Tofu recipe is prepared in Oriental style and can make for a filling weeknight dinner for everyone.

SESAME TOFU

Ingredients

2 tbsps toasted white sesame seeds + for garnish
1 tbsp toasted black sesame seeds
400 grams tofu, cut into 2 inch cubes
½ cup corn flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1-2 green chillies, chopped
2 tbsps light soy sauce
1 tbsp red chilli sauce
2 tbsps tomato ketchup
2 tbsps corn flour slurry
2 tbsps chopped spring onion greens + for garnish


Method

1. Take corn flour in a bowl, add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and crushed black peppercorns and mix well.
2. Add the tofu pieces into the flour mixture and coat it well. Dust of the excess.
3. Heat oil in a kadai, gently slide in the tofu pieces and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
4. Heat sesame oil in a non-stick wok, add garlic and green chillies and sauté for 30 seconds. Add light soy sauce, red chilli sauce and tomato ketchup and mix well.
5. Add white sesame seeds and black sesame seeds and mix well. Add ½ cup water, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes.
6. Add corn flour slurry and mix well. Add the fried tofu pieces and toss till well coated.
7. Serve hot garnished with spring onion greens and white sesame seeds.
