Green Apple Rice, No Onion No Garlic

I proceed with my Green Apple recipes which began with Green Apple Smoothie, this New Year. With the festival of Makar Sankaranthi approaching, it would be good to make a novel recipe using Green Apples, Needless to add that the Green apples are abundant in nutrition and good for all kinds of conditions including celebrations! #Pongal or #Kanu is an ideal day to try this out! #Chitrannam #VarietyRice for #Kanu

Ingredients:

Green apples - 2 medium 

Green chillies - 4

Ginger - 2 samall pieces

Green capsicum - 1 big

Fresh green peas/frozen peas - ½ cup

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

Bengal Gram Dal - 1 tsp

Cashewnuts - 1 handful

Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp

Ghee /oil - 4 tbsps

Salt to taste

Cooked rice of 1 cup Basmati rice

Coriander leaves - 1 bunch

Lemon juice 

Method:

Chop green chillies and ginger into jullienes

Chop capsicum roughly

Keep green peas ready

Grate apples

Now, heat ghee/ oil in a wide pan

Splutter mustard seeds

Add Bengal Gram Dal and roast till golden

Add the green chillies and ginger and saute

Add cashewnuts and fry till golden

Now add the grated green apple and stir-fry to cook well

Add salt to taste and add the chopped capsicum and Green peas and saute

Close and cook for few mins

Open and add lemon juice - toss well

Toss together

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves

Serve Green Apple rice with any Raitha..
