A traditional lunch menu of South India is incomplete without sambar and usually sambar is prepared using a variety of vegetables, okra sambar being one such. Greens are used in the preparation of keerai sambar.Healthy greens combined with dal, make this a wholesome lunch menu. Do give this drumstick greens ie murungai keerai sambar a try.
Sambhar with Greens

Oil 1 tb
Tour daal ½ cup
Mustard seeds ¼ ts
Red chilly 3 n
Fenugreek seeds pinch
Onions 2 n
Curry leaves 2 springs
Turmeric pinch
Salt to taste
Hing pinch
Tamarind juice ½ cup
Drumstick leaves 1 cup


Boil the tour daal and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, red chilly, fenugreek seeds, onions, curry leaves, onions, turmeric, salt, hing, sauté it and add coconut pieces add tamarind juice, sambhar powder, add water, put the lid on and once it comes to boil, remove the lid and add boiled daal, add drumstick leaves, add sugar, cook for some time then switch off the flame.
