Sambar Simple Sambar using Meenamas Sambar Powder No fuss No Frills!

There are several ways to make Sambar. But today #sujanfunkitchen is here with a #sambar made simple using Sambar powder made by #Meenama, my MIL
Tur dal - cup or 100 gms
Turmeric powder - tsp
Tamarind - 1 small lemon size
Sambar powder - 1 tsp
Ghee or til oil- 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Methi seeds - 1 tsp
Kashmiri red chillies 2 or normal red chillies 1
Green chillies - 2
Asaefotida - tsp
Any mixed vegetables chopped - cup
Curry leaves - 1 handful
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnish
Gram flour - 1 tsp
Method:
Pressure cook to boil Tur dal along with turmeric powder till soft and keep aside
Steam the roughly chopped vegetables till cooked, but crisp - keep aside
Soak the tamarind in 1 cup of water and extract the tamarind water and keep aside
Now, heat oil/ghee in a heavy pan
Splutter mustard seeds
Then roast methi seeds till dark golden
Simmer the flame and add the red chillies, slit green chillies and the curry leaves
Saut everything
Now add the steamed vegetables and toss lightly
Then add the tamarind water
Add the sambar powder
Now add salt to taste
Allow everything to cook together till the raw smell from the tamarind and sambar powder disappears
Now its time to add the cooked Tur dal
Let everything cook together
Add asaefotida and cook for few more
mins
Mid the gram flour in few tsp water to make thin batter without lumps
Add this to the boiling Sambar so that the Sambhar consistency is good
Now garnish with coriander leaves
Enjoy the delicious Sambar with your friends and family
