Mashed potatoes, sago, some spices and a dash of lemon juice, Sabudana Pops are perfect if you are looking for something deep fried and indulgent.

SABUDANA POPS

Ingredients

1 cup sago (sabudana), soaked for 6-7 hours and drained
2 medium potatoes, boiled and peeled
1 tsp ginger green chilli paste
¼ cup roasted peanuts, crushed
Salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves
2 tsps lemon juice
Oil for deep frying
Coconut chutney to serve

Method

1. Add potatoes in a large bowl and mash them. Add ginger-green chilli paste, peanuts, salt, sugar, sago, chopped coriander and lemon juice. Mix well.
2. Divide the mixture into equal portions, shape them into balls.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, deep-fry the prepared sago balls till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
