This year I'm prioritizing PROCESS over PRODUCT to create fun, child-directed, open ended crafts and playtime for my children using themes from the Jewish High Holidays: Apples, Honey, Shofars, a Sukkah, the Etrog and Lulav, etc. These have been great activities for our days off from school, or for playtime between services or other holiday events.

The activities I shared today were:

1) Apple printmaking or pomegranate prints
2) High Holidays Collage
3) Make Your Own Shofar (using toilet paper rolls)
4) Apple Cutout Collages with Tissue Paper
5) Still Life Drawing + Stickers
6) Loose Parts (free play materials, many useful for crafts on this list)
7) Making Tiny Apple Trees (using toilet paper rolls, with optional apple printing using corks)
8) Honeycomb Rubbings or Painting (using Styrafoam fruit packaging)
9) Corrugated Cardboard Shofar Cutouts
10) Play Doh Crafts (challah braiding with raisins)
11) Salt Dough Crafts
12) Felt (Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot themes)
13) Sukkah for a Doll (cardboard box)
14) Berry Basket Sukkah
15) Using Fruit Decorations or Tins (for decorating, pretend play and storing art supplies)
16) Special Holiday Stickers (Etrog and Lulav, etc.)
17) Making Fruit Patterns (using tongue depressors and foam fruits)
18) Apple Cider Mocktails (and snacks of the season)
