Give your traditional chicken 'n' waffles a kick of color and flavor with red velvet waffles.Ingredients—Waffles: 1/2 cup flour1 tablespoon cocoa powder1/4 teaspoon baking powder1 tablespoon sugarPinch salt1 cup buttermilk1/4 cup butter, melted1 egg1 teaspoon vanilla2 tablespoons red food coloringPowdered sugarChicken:1 package chicken tenderloins2 cups flourParsleySalt and pepperVegetable oilSauce: 1 1/2 cups honey1 tablespoon paprika1/2 teaspoon hot sauceSteps—Fill a pot with oil and place over high heat. Prepare the chicken: While oil is heating, cut chicken into bite-sized nuggets and season with salt, pepper, and parsley. Add flour to a large mixing bowl and dredge chicken pieces until fully coated. Once oil is hot, fry chicken until fully cooked, then drain on paper towels.Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine honey, paprika and hot sauce.Add cooked chicken to a medium mixing bowl and toss with some of the sauce. Prepare the waffles: In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, butter and egg. Mix until combined. Add vanilla and food coloring. To make the waffles, ladle out 2 scoops of waffle mixture, pour into waffle maker and allow to cook. Once waffle is done, place on cutting board and cut into slices.
