I will show you how to make lemonade from scratch the old fashion way using just 3 ingredients, real lemons, sugar and water. It doesn't really matter which type of lemons you use but my favorite is the Meyer lemon because it tends to be sweeter and less acidic.

First you start with making a simple sugar and letting it cool. Then juice your lemons and add water and the simple sugar. Stir and serve over ice. This is so easy to make and so much better and healthier for you.

You can make other types of lemonade like raspberry, strawberry, watermelon or blackberry lemonade just by adding those fresh fruits to your lemonade. I show you how easy it is in the video.

Nothing beats fresh squeezed lemonade.

Simple sugar:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar

Directions:
Place both water and sugar into a sauce pan over medium high heat. Stir until sugar completely dissolves and the liquid is clear. Take off the heat and cool completely. Store in the refrigerator in a covered container.

Lemonade:

1 cup of fresh lemon juice (approx. 6 lemons)
4 cups water
3/4 cup of simple sugar

Directions:
Add lemon juice, water and simple sugar to a container and stir. Taste and adjust sweetness to your liking. Serve chilled and over ice.

If you want, make a double batch of lemonade and then pour some into ice cube trays to make lemon ice cubes. Then when you add these cubes to your lemonade it won't water it down.

To make strawberry lemonade:
Place 1 to 2 cups of fresh strawberries or what ever fruit you like into a blender. Add 2 to 3 TBSP. of water to help it blend.

If using a fruit with seeds, pour the pureed fruit through a fine strainer to remove the seeds. Add this to the lemonade for a wonderful refreshing treat!
