Rava Laddus can be made for any festivals or Special Occasions.
Fresh Coconut can be totally skipped out as adding fresh coconut reduces shelf life of the rava laddus. Though the taste is enhanced with coconut.

Desiccated coconut can also be added in place of fresh coconut. Although these festival homemade mithai are to be consumed within a week or two, you can still keep them in Freeze or Freezer to enjoy more days. And wait with patience till they come to room temperature : )
You can also thaw these sweets in double boiler just for a minute.
