Rasam, chaaru or saaru is a South Indian soup, traditionally prepared using tamarind juice, tomatoes, garlic, pepper, cumin, green chili , dry red chili, curry leaves, coriander leaves and other spices. Flavorful, colorful, spicy and aromatic recipe, mostly served as finisher for rice meal in southern part of India.
Different style and variety of rasam prepared in different part of region, but this one is a basic, simple, easy and all time favorite rasam recipe (without any special mix or power) where is usually prepared in all part of south India, Generally this Tamilnadu rasam recipe in Tamil called milagu rasam or thakkali rasam. In Kerala rasam recipe in Malayalam called charu or pepper rasam and in Telugu called as tomato rasam, often multiple names. But all the rasam are very similar other than little tweaks made in different part of India.

Water 1 cup
Tomato 3
Salt
Water 2 cups
Peppercorn 1 tsp
Cummin Seed 1 tsp
Green Chili 1
Garlic pod 1
Curry leaves
Oil 2tsp
Mustard seed 1/4tsp
Fenugreek 1/4tsp
Dried Red chili (broken) 2
Asafoetida (hing) 1/4tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
Coriander leaves
Water 1/2 cup
