Rajma Chawal is all about emotion, it is all time comfort food for Punjabis. Like fafda jalebis for Gujratis or maacher jhol for Bengalis or dahi vada alu dum for Odiyas or dosas for South Indians we love these because we grew up with these preparations, lovingly cooked by our mothers or grandmothers. These are simple dishes yet celebratory preparations with simple ingredients .comforting, loving & super homely!

Rajma Chawal is the quintessential North Indian dish which is now popular all over India. I love this and cook quite often. Try my recipe and enjoy a wholesome meal with your family on a weekend. This is perfect comfort meal to enjoy with entire family & friends.
Ingredients
Del Monte Olive Pomace Oil (3 Tbs for cooking & 1 Tbs for tadka)
Ginger & garlic paste - 2 Tbs
Chopped green chillies - 2 pcs
One medium onion chopped
One cup Rajma, (soaked overnight and pressure cooked till soft)
One tomato finely chopped
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 Tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 Tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 Tsp
Whole cumin seeds
2 Dry Red chilies
Salt to taste
One cup cooked rice

Method
Step 1 - Take oil in the pan and when hot add ginger & garlic paste
Step 2 - Add chopped green chillies and tomatoes and mix well
Step 3 - Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander & cumin powder and mix well
Step 4 - Add the soaked rajma and mix well
Step 5 - Add water and let it cook
Step 6 - Sprinkle some garam masala powder
Step 7 - Rajma is ready, plate it with cooked rice, as shown
Step 8 - Make a tadka for the rice with Del Monte olive oil, cumin seeds & whole red chilies
Step 9 - Put the tadka on rice and enjoy a wholesome meal
