We are sure you all have made prawns before, but this prawns vada recipe will add a South Indian twist to your sea food.

PRAWNS VADA

Ingredients

10-12 jumbo prawns, cleaned, deveined and washed
1½ cups Tata Sampann Urad Dal
1 tsp cumin seeds
1½ tsps crushed black peppercorns
2-3 green chillies, chopped
1 inch ginger, chopped
Salt to taste
7-8 curry leaves
Oil for deep frying

Method

1. In a bowl, add Tata Sampann Urad Dal and sufficient water. Soak for 4-5 hours.
2. In a blender jar, drain and add the soaked dal and a little water. Blend to a fine paste and transfer into a bowl.
3. Add cumin seeds, crushed black peppercorn, green chillies chopped and ginger and salt.
4. Chop curry leaves and add to the mixture, mix well. Beat the mixture with hands till well combined.
5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, meanwhile, place the prawns and place them on absorbent paper. Pat them dry. Transfer them on a plate. Sprinkle a little salt on top and mix well.
6. Dip each prawn into the prepared batter and coat well. Drop into the hot oil and deep fry on medium heat till golden and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
