Pappu Charu | Tamato Pappu Charu | How to make Pappu Charu Recipe in Telugu by Hyderabadi Ruchulu

INGREDIENTS
1. Toor Dal - 1 Cup
2. Tamarind - 50 Gms
3. Onions - 1
4. Green Chillies - 4
5. Garlic Cloves - 8
6. Curry Leaves - 1/2 Cup
7. Red Chillies - 3
8. Tomatoes - 2
9. Salt - 2 Teaspoons
10. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
11. Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
12. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
13. Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
14. Coriander Seeds Powder - 1 Teaspoon
15. Jaggery - 15 Gms

Wash and soak tamarind. Wash dal, add 3 cups water and boil in cooker for upto 3-4 whistles. Let cooker cool down, open lid and mash dal. Add tamarind juice. Heat a pan and add 2 tablespoons oil. Add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds. Add red chilli pieces. Add coarsly grinded garlic cloves and fry till they turn light brown. Add diced onions and fry for a minute. Add green chillies, curry leaves and mix. Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, tomato pieces and mix. Close the lid for 2 minutes for the tomatoes to cook and become soft. Add prepared dal-tamarind water mixture. Add water till required consistency is obtained. Add 2 teaspoons salt or salt to taste, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder. 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder could be added for colour or taste. Fry 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds, 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds and powder the mixture. Add this powder. Add jaggery and mix. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Add coriander leaves and cut off the stove.
