Onion, Tomato and Cheese Open Toast

If a snack appeals to everyone in the family, it is not only very satisfying but also saves time! The Onion, Tomato and Cheese Open Toast is one such option that appeals to all. Made with readily available ingredients, this quick and easy snack is convenience incarnate as it does not even require an elaborate serving procedure – just tomato ketchup will do!

Preparation Time: 10 minutes.
Cooking Time: Nil.
Makes 8 open toasts.
Baking Temperature: 180°C (360°F).
Baking Time: 13 to 15 minutes.

To be mixed into a topping
½ cup chopped onions
½ cup chopped tomatoes
¼ cup grated processed cheese
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp milk
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
Salt to taste

Other ingredients
8 bread slices
Butter for brushing

For serving
Tomato ketchup

1. Divide the topping into 8 equal portions and keep aside.
2. Place the bread slices on a clean, dry surface and brush it lightly with little butter and place them on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C (360°F) for 4 to 5 minutes.
3. Put a portion of the topping on each baked bread slices and spread evenly. 4. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C (360°F) for 4 to 5 minutes.
5. Cut the toast into slices and serve immediately with tomato ketchup.
