Mutton Rassa | Cooking With Archana | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Mutton Rassa is a Maharastrian Kolhapuri traditional dish filled with, raw, earthen flavours giving you warmth in every bite!

MUTTON RASSA

Ingredients

800 grams mutton, cut into 1½ inch pieces on the bone
4 tablespoons oil
2-3 cloves
5-6 black peppercorns
½ inch cinnamon
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
¼ teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
3 medium onions, finely chopped
2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon mixed masala

Method

1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon, turmeric powder, asafoetida, onion, tomatoes and coriander leaves and mix.
2. Add salt, mix and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add mutton pieces and mix. Add mixed masala and 1½ cups water and mix. Cover and pressure cook till 4-5 whistles are released. Open the lid when the excess pressure is completely released.
3. Serve hot.
