Mutter Chaat

Calorie watchers keep your hunger pangs at bay! This desi chaat combines protein and fibre rich green peas with low-fat butter and baked sev.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes. Cooking Time: 5 minutes. Serves 3.

1½ cups boiled green peas
1 tsp oil
½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
½ tsp aniseeds (vilayati saunf)
¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
¼ cup chopped tomatoes
½ tsp dry mango powder (amchur)
½ tsp chaat masala
¼ tsp sugar
Salt to taste
1 tsp low-fat butter
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
¼ cup baked sev for the garnish

1. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds and aniseeds.
2. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida and green chillies and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
3. Add the tomatoes and 2 tbsp water and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
4. Add the green peas, dry mango powder, chaat masala, sugar and salt, mix well and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
5. Add the lemon juice and coriander and mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute.
Serve immediately garnished with baked sev.
