Multipurpose curry leaves podi | Side dish for idli/dosa | Chutney/Thuvayal powder | Madras Curry Channel

What do you do when you have plenty of curry leaves at your disposal? Make this tasty multipurpose curry leaves podi/powder that will come handy for quick meal fixes.

This versatile powder can be used as a side for idli/dosa or consumed with hot rice and ghee. Adding coconut, tasty thuvaiyal/chutney can be made and enjoyed with variety rices, idli or dosa.

Ingredients:

Curry leaves powder:
1. Black gram (with or without skin) - 1/2 cup
2. Dry red chillies - 10
3. Garlic cloves - 3
4. Fresh curry leaves - 1.5 cups
5. Black peppercorns - 1/4 cup
6. Cumin seeds - 1/4 cup
7. Asafoetida- 1 tsp
8. Salt - to taste

Thuvaiyal/chutney with the curry leaves powder:
1. Coconut - 1/2 cup
2. Curry leaves powder - 2 tbsp
3. Tamarind - 1 small blueberry size
4. Salt - to taste
