MOONG DAL KHICHDI RECIPE

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Serves: 4-6

Ingredients
1 tbsp Ghee, घी
1 ½ cup Rice , चावल
1 cup Moong dal, soaked , मूंग दाल
Salt to taste, नमक स्वाद अनुसार
½ cup winter Carrots, cube, गाजर
Water as required, पानी
1 tsp Turmeric powder, हल्दी पाउडर
½ tsp Red chilli powder, लाल मिर्च पाउडर

For Tadka
2 tbsp Ghee, घी
1 tbsp Oil, तेल
1 tsp Cumin seeds, जीरा
1 inch Ginger, chopped, अदरक
2-3 Green chilli , chopped, हरी मिर्च
2 large Onion, chopped, प्याज
Salt to taste, नमक स्वाद अनुसार
1 tsp Red chilli powder, लाल मिर्च पाउडर
½ tsp Coriander powder, धनिया पाउडर
¼ tsp Asafetida, हींग
¼ cup French beans,chopped, फ्रेंच बीन्स
¼ cup Green peas, हरी मटर
1 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped, धनिया पत्ती

To Serve
Ghee, घी
Curd, दही
Pickle, अचार
Papad, पापड़

Process
● In a pressure cooker, add ghee, moong dal and roast well.
● Add rice, salt to taste, winter carrot, water as required, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, mix
well and cover it with the lid and cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
● In another kadai, add ghee, oil, cumin seeds and let it splutter.
● Add chopped ginger, green chilli, onion and saute till its translucent.
● Add salt to taste, red chilli powder, coriander powder, asafetida and saute well.
● Add french beans, green peas saute well on medium flame.
● Add cooked dal and rice and mix well until combined.

● Add some water, cover and cook it for 4-5 minutes and it is ready to serve.
● Garnish with coriander and drizzle some extra ghee on top. Best served with some papad, achaar and yogurt on the side.
