A simple and tasty treat that toddlers will enjoy!MOONG DAL IDLI WITH CHUTNEYIngredients½ cup split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal), soaked for 2 hours and drained½ cup split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal), soaked for 2 hours and drained½ inch ginger, finely chopped¼ tsp turmeric powderSalt to taste¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)Oil for greasing8 tsps finely chopped carrot4 tsps boiled sprouted green gram (ankurit moong)4 tsps chopped cashew nutsChutney1 cup scraped fresh coconutSalt to taste1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves1½ tbsps thick yogurt Method1. Put soaked split skinless green gram in a blender jar, add split skinless black gram, ginger, and ¾ cup water and blend to a fine paste.2. Transfer the blended paste into a bowl, add turmeric powder and salt and mix well. Add asafoetida, mix and set aside to ferment for 6-8 hours. 3. Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Grease small stainless steel bowls with a little oil.4. Pour a ladleful of the batter into each bowl. Sprinkle 1 tsp finely chopped carrot, ½ tsp boiled sprouted moong and ½ tsp chopped cashew nuts in each bowl. Place the bowls in the steamer and steam for 12-15 minutes.5. For the chutney, put coconut in a blender jar, add salt, coriander leaves and ¼ cup water and blend to a coarse paste. Transfer this paste into a bowl and add yogurt and mix well. 6. Take the bowls out of the steamer and allow to idlis to cool slightly, gently slide a knife on the edges and de-mould them.7. Place the idlis on a serving plate and serve with chutney.
