Mohan Bhog Recipe | JANMASHTAMI SPECIAL DISH | Dessert Recipe for Janmashtami with Semolina | HUNGRY HUNT

As an offering to the Lord, people put together a list of 56 food items..referred to as 'Chappan Bhog' on Janmashtami. Wondering why there are specifically 56 items?

The story goes that to protect his village and the people from the wrath of God of Rain(Lord Indra), Krishna ji had lifted the Gowardhan Parvat and placed it at the tip of his littel finger under which everyone had taken refuge. He stood still for 7 days continuously, until Lord Indra realised his mistake.

Krishna ji would normally eat 8 food items everyday. However he didn't eat any food during these 7days.So at the end of 7th day..everyone made Krishna ji a total of 56 dishes for him making up for his 7 day hungry tummy.
