Mutton pieces flavoured with methi, and cooked with an added flavour of almond and yoghurt is a delight to your taste buds!

METHI GOSHT

Ingredients

2 tbsps Tata Sampann Kasuri Methi
750 grams mutton, cut into 2 inch pieces on the bone
4 tbsps oil
3 medium onions
2-3 green cardamoms
5-6 black peppercorns
4-5 cloves
1 black cardamom
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 bay leaves
3-4 green chillies
1½ tbsps ginger-garlic paste
½ cup yogurt
2 tbsps almond paste
½ tsp garam masala powder
Slit fresh red chilli for garnish

Method

1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, meanwhile, thinly slice onions and set aside.
2. Add green cardamoms, black peppercorns, cloves, black cardamom, cinnamon stick and bay leaves in the hot oil. Sauté till fragrant.
3. Add the sliced onions and sauté till translucent.
4. Slit green chillies and add into the cooker, add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add mutton and sauté on high heat for 4-5 minutes. Whisk the yogurt and set aside.
6. Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and cumin powder in the mutton mixture. Mix well.
7. Add the whisked yogurt and sauté on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Add 2 cups water and mix well. Cover and cook under pressure till 7-8 whistles are released.
8. Open the cooker once the pressure has reduced completely. Place it back on the heat and cook on low flame uncovered till the gravy thickens.
9. Add almond paste and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
10. Add Tata Sampann Kasuri Methi and mix well. Cook for 6-8 minutes.
11. Add garam masala powder, mix well and switch the heat off. Transfer the prepared gravy in a serving bowl.
12. Garnish with slit fresh red chilli and serve hot.
