MASOOR DAL KE KEBAB

Ingredients

¾ cup whole red lentil (sabut masoor), soaked for 30 minutes
3 tbsps oil + for greasing
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 medium onion, roughly chopped
3-4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
1 green chilli, roughly chopped
Salt to taste
½ tsp Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp Tata Sampann Chilli Powder
¼ cup fresh brown bread crumbs
Pickle of your choice
Fresh coriander sprigs for garnish
Lemon wedges to serve
Onion quarters to serve

Method

Heat 2 tbsps oil in a deep non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add onion and mix well.
Add garlic and green chilli and sauté for 1 minute.
Add soaked whole red lentil and mix well. Add salt, Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and Tata Sampann Chilli Powder and mix well.
Add ¼ cup water and mix, cover and cook for 12-15 minutes or till the masoor is cooked completely. Continue to cook uncovered till the mixture becomes dry.
Switch the heat off and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Transfer the cooled mixture into a blender jar, and blend till smooth paste and put into a large bowl.
Add brown bread crumbs and mix well.
Grease your palm with a little oil, take a portion of the mixture and make a cavity in the centre and stuff with pickle of your choice and shape it into a tikki.
Heat remaining oil on a non-stick tawa, place the tikkis on it and cook on both sides till golden brown.
Arrange the tikkis on a serving plate and garnish with coriander sprigs and serve hot with lemon wedges and onion quarters.
