Masala Karela nu Shak (Spiced Bitter Gourd Subzi) By Toral | India Food Network

Karela is also known as Bitter melon or bitter gourd. Karelas are supposed to be very good for diabetics. Toral's version of Masala Karela is not only healthy but also tasty. Try it out and let us know how it went.

Ingredients:

· 250 gm Karela
· ½ tsp. Mustard Seeds
· ½ tsp. Turmeric
· ½ tsp. Sugar
· ½ tsp. Cumin
· 2 tbsp. Coriander Powder
· 1 tsp. Chili-Ginger Paste
· 3-4 tbsp. Oil
· Salt to taste


Method:

1. Wash the Karela and peel them. Cut them into long slices.
2. Sprinkle salt on them and put them aside for 30 minutes.
3. Pour the oil into a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin and chili-ginger paste, and stir for a minute.
4. Then add the Karela and cover with the lid. Let it cook for 5-6 minutes.
5. Open the lid and add all the spices. Close the lid again and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Serve hot with Rotli/Chapati.
