Master the art of cooking this classic pizza with this super easy and delicious recipe!

MARGHERITA PIZZA

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil
5 grams fresh yeast
2 tablespoons castor sugar
2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
1 cup fresh tomato puree
Salt to taste
1½ cups refined flour + for dusting
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon castor
3-4 basil leaves, chopped
2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
Polenta for dusting
Oil for greasing
½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
5-6 basil leaves
1 teaspoon mixed herbs

Method

1. Pre-heat the oven at 180˚C
2. Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan.
3. Add fresh yeast and sugar to a bowl along with some water. Mix well and set aside till frothy.
4. Add garlic to the pan and sauté till fragrant, add tomato puree and mix well. Add salt, mix well and cook till the oil separates.
5. Add refined flour and olive oil to the yeast mixture and knead to a soft dough along with water as required. Cling wrap the dough and set aside in a warm place till it doubles in size.
6. Add castor sugar to the pan along with basil and tomato ketchup. Mix well, switch of the heat and set aside.
7. Divide the prepared dough into two equal portions. Shape it into a bowl, dust polenta along with refined flour on the work top and roll into a disc.
8. Grease a baking tray with some oil and transfer the prepared pizza base on it. Dock the pizza dough with a fork and bake at 180˚C for 5 minutes.
9. Brush the base with olive oil and spread an even layer of the prepared pizza sauce on the base.
10. Spread a generous layer of mozzarella cheese followed by some basil leaves. Sprinkle mixed herbs and bake at 180˚C for 15 minutes.
11. Cut into wedges and serve hot.
