Mango Shrikhand | Easy Homemade Amrakhand | Popular Indian Sweet Dish Recipe | Kanak's Kitchen

Watch how to make 'Mango Shrikhand', a very popular Indian dessert recipe by chef Kanak.

Summers and mangoes go hand in hand. So to grab some moments of bliss, we bring you chilled mango delight called 'Mango Shrikhand' or 'Amrakhand'. It is made from strained yogurt and is one of the main desserts in Maharashtrian and Gujarati cuisine.

Ingredients:

1 litre yogurt
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup mango puree
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
pinch of nutmeg powder
few strands of saffron - soaked in 1 tbsp of milk
some pistachios and almonds for garnishing

Method:

- In a muslin cloth, hang the yogurt for around 6 - 8 hours or overnight.
- Take the curd out in a bowl and blend it using a small blender for about a minute.
- Once it comes to a smooth consistency, add the mango pulp or mango puree and beat well until both the ingredients combine well.
- Add the powdered sugar, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and soaked saffron and mix everything well.
- Once done, transfer it to another bowl, cover with a lid and refrigerate it until it becomes chilled and slightly firm.
- Garnish with some pistachios, almond flakes and saffron strands and the delectable mango flavoured shrikhand is ready to be served.
