Mandoo (dumplings) and an anti-self-congratulations video.

Yup, its that time where we reflect on all the things we did this year. And 2021 has been a big year indeed for me. But, you all have been here from the beginning and have therefore celebrated all the ups with me throughout the year. As someone whos been on social media for awhile, I know how tempting it can be to assume that what we see on Instagram is not just real, but ALL that is real. And therefore, when youre constantly bombarded with everyone elses successes, the I suck refrain can begin to creep in before you even realize it. I have always aimed to be as transparent about my failures as I have been about my successes, and on New Years Eve, I wanted to take a minute (literally) to share with you what I know I couldve done better at and the anxiety that attends my failures.
.
Over the years, I have been thinking a lot about the F-word (the one with two syllables). My challenge has been this deprogramming as @Rich Roll
calls it, getting comfortable with Failurenot content with it, but also not devastated with it. As @davidgoggins put it so perfectly: I figured out how to succeed through failure. I imagine that over the course of 2022, the first full year as the owner of my own business, being my own real Girl Boss, I will make quite a few mistakes, incur a number of failuressome that will roll off my shoulders and others that will impress themselves on me like an unpleasant smell.
.
We hear all the time, Believe in yourself! Just have some faith in yourself! But, I think that message is often misinterpreted. Its not believe in your ability to succeed. No. When its time to walk the tightrope and you look down, and theres nothing there between you and the cold, hard ground, your sincerest belief that you can make it to the other side isnt going to keep you safe. In those situations, the only safety net youve got is this:
.
Knowing that if you fall, youll get back up.
