This Gujarati sweet made with broken wheat and loads of nuts will make for an amazing mithai in this festive season.

LAPSI

Ingredients

1 cup broken wheat (jada lapsi)
2 tbsps ghee
3 cups milk
1 cup granulated sugar
½ tsp green cardamom powder
A pinch of salt
8-10 almonds, blanched, peeled and slivered + for garnish
8-10 pistachios, blanched, peeled and slivered + for garnish

Method

1. Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add broken wheat and sauté on low heat for 5-6 minutes.
2. Add milk and mix well. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes on low heat , stirring in between.
3. Add sugar, green cardamom powder and salt, mix well and cook till the sugar melts and the mixture becomes thick.
4. Add almonds and pistachios and mix well. Take the pan off the heat and transfer into a serving bowl.
5. Garnish with almonds and pistachios. Serve hot.
