Kulkuls forms an integral part of the sweets distributed to family and friends during Christmas. Kulkuls are a Goan sweet made especially during the festival of Christmas. This Kulkuls recipe is delicious

KULKUL

Ingredients

1¼ cups refined flour (maida)
10 grams butter
1 egg yolk
3-4 tablespoons powdered sugar
Salt to taste
2-3 tablespoons coconut milk
Ghee for deep-frying
Icing sugar for dusting

Method

1. Cream together butter and egg yolk in a bowl till light. Sift in powdered sugar and blend well using an electric blender.
2. Sift in together flour and salt and fold well. Add coconut milk and mix well. Knead into a soft dough.
3. Divide the dough into equal portions, place each portion on the back of a fork to form a rectangle with ridge, roll the ridge to form a tight curl.
4. Heat sufficient ghee in a kadai. Deep-fry the kulkuls till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
5. Dust icing sugar on top and serve immediately.
