Easy kollu podi for idli and dosa - Horse gram or Kollu is a legume that is best consumed during rainy or winter seasons as it is believed to increase the body heat. Though it is popularly known for its role in weight loss, it is also rich in iron and has been found to help reduce insulin resistance. Horse gram is largely avoided due to its taste but when cooked right, they taste great! One easiest and tastiest way is to combine it with the idli podi/gunpowder. INGREDIENTS:
1. Bengal gram - 1/4 cup
2. Black gram, skin on or deskinned (karuppu ulundhu or normal ulundhu) - 1/4 cup
3. Horsegram (Kollu) - 1/2 cup
4. Dry red chillies - 20 to 25 (Add more if you need more heat)
5. Asafoetida - 1 tsp
6. Garlic cloves (Optional) - 12 to 15
7. Curry leaves - 1 or 2 sprigs
8. Salt - to taste
