Khoya Matar | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Green peas cooked with khoya in onion tomato masala with ild spices. Rich and yummy to taste.

KHOYA MATAR

Ingredients

½ cup khoya, crumbled
1½ cups green peas (matar)
2 tablespoons ghee
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
2 green chillies, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
2 teaspoons garam masala powder
1½ teaspoons fennel (saunf) powder
Salt to taste
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
6-8 cashewnuts, chopped
Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method

1. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and sauté till the seeds change colour. Add green chillies and onions, mix and sauté till translucent.
2. Add khoya and mix well. Add coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder, fennel powder and salt, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
3. Add tomatoes and green peas, mix and cook till tomatoes turn soft and pulpy. Add cashewnuts and ½ cup water, mix, cover and cook till oil separates.
4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
