Kalmi Vada is a traditional Rajasthani recipe made from chana dal, cabbage, gram flour, and a variety of spices that you can easily find at home. This snack recipe has a crispy brown texture because of the coarsely grounded chana dal. It is a great snack recipe to enjoy during monsoon and winter season. Ingredients:
1/2cup chana dal
2 tbs each of musur dal, mung dal & toor daal
1 cup grated cabbage
1 tbsp gram flour
1 tbsp whole coriander crushed
1 tbsp grated ginger
1 green chili chopped
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp raw mango powder
1/2 tsp Chaat Masala Powder
salt to taste
oil to deep fry
Method :
Wash and soak chana dal for 3-4 hours. Grind the dal into a coarse paste.
Mix gram flour, grated cabbage, crushed coriander, salt, red chili powder and mango powder. Mix all the ingredients well. This will make soft and crumbly dough.
Deep fry on low flame till they are very light in color. Drain and keep aside
Cut the vadas into long strips.
Again deep fry them till golden brown
Serve hot with sweet and sour chutney and also sprinkle some chaat masala
