Jaggery Coated Banana Chips/Sharkara Varatti - Onam Special Series No 12 | Indian Mom's Kitchen

Whether young or the elderly, nobody can resist this mouth-watering Banana Chips recipe. Let me show you how you can easily make it at home.

Ingredients:
1/2 kg raw Kerala Bananas
150 gms Jaggery
1/2 tsp dry Ginger powder
1/2 tsp Cumin powder
1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
3 tbsp Rice flour
oil for deep frying

Method: Slit the raw Bananas lengthwise and then cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Heat oil in a pan and fry the Banana pieces on very low flame till crisp and golden on the outside.
Melt Jaggery in 1/2 cup water, strain and put it into a pan to reduce to 1 thread consistency. Then add Ginger, Cumin and Cardamom powder. Next put in the Banana chips and coat evenly. Once this mix is sticky, add the Rice flour and mix well. Remove from heat and cool. Sharkara Varatti is ready to be enjoyed by one and all.
