If you have any other version of yours, share with me in the comments below! #BackToBasicsTOOR DAL AMTIIngredients1 cup split pigeon peas (toor dal)Salt to taste¼ tsp turmeric powder1 tbsp oil½ tsp mustard seeds½ tsp cumin seeds¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)5-6 curry leaves1 tbsp goda masala½ tsp red chilli powder1 tsp chopped jaggery2-3 kokum petals2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leavesMethod1. Wash the pigeon peas with sufficient water for 2-3 times, add fresh water and soak for 20 minutes.2. Drain the soaked pigeon peas and add into a deep pan, add salt, turmeric powder and 4 cups water, mix, cover and cook for 6 minutes.3. Discard the scum and cook further uncovered for 20 minutes. Mix and slightly mash with a wooden churner. Take the pan off the heat.4. To make the amti, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them change colour. Add asafoetida and sauté well. Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds. 5. Add cooked pigeon peas and mix well. Add goda masala, red chilli powder, jaggery, and mix well. Cook for 1 minute.6. Add kokum petals, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add coriander leaves, mix and take the pan off the heat. 7. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander sprig.
