How to Make Molasses at Home - 3 homemade grades of molasses

3 Types of Molasses:

1. GRADE 'A'
- Grade 'A' is also called First syrup, Cane syrup, Gold star, Light or Fancy Molasses. It has many names in different countries but you can easily identify it from the color and the taste. It is amber in color, or yellowish in appearance and has a very sweet taste.
It is used in sweetening of food, puddings, juices, pancakes, in making candies, making sugar syrup, for making sweets and drinks. Also used in making bread, crackers, and biscuits.

2. DARK MOLASSES
- This is also called grade 'B' molasses; this tastes slightly bitter with a sweet taste too but not as sweet as grade A (light or first syrup). It has a darker color than the first syrup. It is used for making recipes such as gingerbread cookies, molasses cookies, and pies.

3. BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES (Grade 'C')
- This is also known as Grade 'C'; it is like the king of all the syrups. Blackstrap molasses is dark, highly viscous (slow pouring), and bitter. It has all the benefits of sugarcane packed in it. It is rich in potassium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, and Vitamin B6; due to this, it is used as a dietary supplement and as an additive in making animal feeds.
