I show you two ways to press out your masa dough to make corn tortillas. The first way is using a tortilla press.

You must use plastic wrap or ziploc bags to keep the dough from sticking to the press. The plastic peels from the dough very easily and you don't have sticking issues.

The second way to press out the dough is to use a pie plate or any large flat bottom dish or pan. I like using the pie plate as it's easy to put your hands on the plate and lean into it. Again you should use plastic of some sort to keep the dough from sticking to the counter and the dish.

Tip:
Make sure the dough is moist enough so that it stays together and not too wet so that it is sticky. Make a golf ball size ball to make your tortillas. If it's too large a ball it won't fit in the tortilla press.

If you are using a pie plate or other large pan or dish, you have more flexibility on the final size of your tortillas.
