How to Make Classic Coleslaw

This Classic Coleslaw is a side dish staple in our house. Its the perfect complement to any summer barbecue or grilled meat dish. Crispy cabbage coated in the yummiest, tangy and creamy dressingthe perfect balance of texture and flavor!

Ingredients

6 cups shredded green cabbage
2 cups shredded purple cabbage
1/2 sweet onion thinly sliced
3 carrots shredded
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

1 00:01:01 - Add cabbage, onion, and carrots to a large mixing bowl and toss together.

2 00:01:29 - Stir in mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper until well combined.

3 00:02:14 - Cover and refrigerate 1 to 2 hours before serving before serving.


OPTIONS AND VARIATIONS:
Use a bag of pre-shredded cabbage and carrots as a time saver.
Looking to lighten things up? Use plain greek yogurt in place of the mayonnaise.
Don't like creamy coleslaw? Try leaving out the mayonnaise and replacing it with 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil for a vinaigrette coleslaw.

MIX IN IDEAS: slivered almonds, dried cranberries, chopped chicken, chopped apples, diced mango.
