Healthy Jhal Muri | Indian Street Food | Chef Ananya Banerjee

Jhal Mudi is a street food that is especially popular in West Bengal, Orissa and Bangladesh. Besides these states, every Indian state has its own form of Jhal mudi, and has different names for it too. It is said to have been originated in the regions of Bengal but people from across the nation savour this snack.
Jhal Mudi has two words to it, ‘Jhal’ means spicy and ‘Mudi’ means puffed rice; it is a spicy puffed rice recipe loved by everyone. I have tried to tweak the regular recipe of Jhal Mudi to make it a more healthier snack, try it at home, and do share how you like it! If you have your own recipe, do share. Ingredients:
2 cups Mudi or puffed rice,
2 tbs finely chopped onions
1 green chilli chopped
1 tbs green coriander leaves chopped
2 tbs boiled and cubed potatoes
2 tbs boiled mixed sprouts
2 tbs mixture (e.g. haldiram khatta mitha)
1 tsp mustard oil
1 tsp achar oil
½ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp jeera powder

Method:
Place all the above ingredients and mix well.
*Served best with a cup of tea.
