Hara Chana Masala | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Delicious sabzi made with green chickpeas that makes for a yummy lunch or dinner.

HARA CHANA MASALA

Ingredients

1 cup fresh green chickpeas, boiled
1 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 green chillies, chopped
¼ tsp asafoetida
½ inch ginger, finely chopped
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
Salt to taste
2 tbsps yogurt
2 tsps red chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
¾ tsp coriander powder
1½ tsps garam masala powder
Freshly chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Method

1. Heat ghee in non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, let the seeds change colour. Add green chillies, asafoetida, ginger, and sauté for 1 minute.
2. Add tomato, salt and mix well. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes or till tomatoes are pulpy.
3. Add yogurt, and mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, mix well. Add ½ cup water and mix well. Cover and cook till oil separates.
5. Add green chickpeas and mix well. Add ¼ cup water, salt to adjust the seasoning, and mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes.
6. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
