Haandavo (Fritters) by Toral || Toral's Pakhshala | India Food Network

The Gujarati Haandvo is a popular dish sampled with tea or coffee during noon snacks. Have it with Chutney and it can also be an ideal dinner snack!

Ingredients:

100 gm Udad Dal
100 gm Moong Dal
100 gm Chana Dal
100 gm Tuvar Dal
300 gm Rice
200 gm grated Doodhi (Lauki/Bottle Gourd)
100 gm Curd (Yoghurt)
1/2 tsp. Turmeric
1/2 tsp. Red Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Asafoetida
1/2 tsp. Eno
1/2 tsp. Mustard Seeds
1 tsp. Chili-Ginger Paste
Water for soaking
4-5 tbsp. Oil for frying
Salt to taste
Grated Coconut, Sesame Seeds and Coriander for garnishing


Method:

1. Grind all the dal and rice to form a coarse batter.
2. Add the curd and lukewarm water to this batter and mix well. Leave overnight for fermenting.

On the next day:
1. Add the grated doodhi and all spices with seasoning.
2. Heat the oil and mustard seeds in a large pan or Haandva maker until it crackles.
3.Pour the batter into the pan and place the lid. Let the batter cook for 40-50 minutes at a low flame.

Garnish with grated coconut, sesame seeds and coriander.
