Here's the classic grilled cheese recipe to try in your kitchen. It's so yummy that you won't be able to resist it.

GRILLED CHEESE

Ingredients

150 grams cheddar cheese
150 grams Emmental cheese
1 sour dough bread
1 tbsp + 4 tsps butter
1 tsp oil
2 medium onions, sliced
Salt to taste
2-3 tsps brown sugar
2-3 sprigs of fresh thyme
1-2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
½ tsp red chilli flakes + for sprinkling
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley leaves + for sprinkling

Method

1. Heat 1 tbsp butter and oil in a non-stick pan. Add onions and sauté till it turns golden brown.
2. Add salt and brown sugar and mix well. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
3. Pluck the leaves of thyme, rosemary, and red chilli flakes and mix well. Transfer on a plate and set aside to cool slightly.
4. Thickly slice the sour dough bread into 8 slices.
5. Take mayonnaise in a bowl, add parsley and sprinkle red chilli flakes and mix well.
6. Thinly slice the Cheddar cheese and Emmental cheese.
7. To make one sandwich, apply some prepared mayo mixture over two slices of the sour dough bread.
8. Heat 1 tsp butter in the same non-stick pan. Sprinkle some parsley leaves and red chilli flakes. Place the sour dough slices on it with the mayo side facing up. Place some slices of cheddar cheese on one slice and place some slices of cheddar cheese on another slice. Place some of the onion mixture on one slice. Toast for 1 minute, place one slice over the other to make a sandwich and cook till the cheese melts.
9. Halve the sandwich and serve hot.
