Falafel Balls | Monsoon Magic | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

The crux of the popular Lebanese dish are these falafel balls. It is very important they are made to perfection and this video shows you how to do just that.

FALAFEL BALLS

Ingredients

1 cup chickpeas, soaked overnight
5 -6 garlic cloves
1 large onion, cut into quarters
¼ cup fresh coriander, chopped
¼ cup fresh parsley chopped
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon cumin powder
1 tablespoon red chilli powder
½ teaspoon black pepper powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
Salt to taste

Method

1. Take a food processor. Add chickpeas. Add garlic, onion, fresh coriander, parsley, olive oil, cumin powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, baking soda and salt. Blend to a coarse mixture.
2. Transfer the mixture into a large bowl. Shape the falafel mixture into medium sized balls and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown and crisp.
3. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. Serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
