It is a popular Yoshoku or western influenced dish that you will find on the menu at many restaurants in Japan and abroad. It is generally served either with tonkatsu sauce or tarter sauce. In this recipe we also show you how to make a homemade tarter sauce for your deep fried shrimp.

The prawn used for Ebi Fry should be straight. In this video we teach you how to make ebi fry straight. The method used to make them straight includes making small slits and them breaking the muscle to straighten it. It makes a popping sound when it breaks.
