Khao man gai (translated as oiled rice with chicken in Thai) is a very popular Thai cuisine in Thailand. Its the Thai food version of Hainanese Chicken Rice which was adapted from early Chinese immigrants originally from Hainan province in southern China. The chicken is boiled whole and some of the oil that comes off is used to cook the rice, giving the oil a delicious flavor and texture. The chicken is sliced and served with the rice, a garnish of cucumbers, and a bowl of clear chicken broth which is topped with fresh coriander. Its a delicious and simple dish and is a very popular Thai food in Thailand. It is really worth trying when you travel Thailand. This restaurant is across the road from the Buddhist University on Talad Mai Road in Surat Thani.The cost of the meal in this video was about $3.65 US, including drinks.
