The Wood Apple (known officially as limonia or woodapple) is a strange and delicious fruit.

The outer shell is similar in size and hardness of a coconut. The woodapple produces a fragrance that smells like raisins and blue cheese combined.

After breaking open the woodapple shell, the fruit on the inside is creamy, soft, sweet and highly acidic. You can eat the entire contents of the shell!

While I was in Sri Lanka, I was able to eat a lot of woodapples and I really enjoyed them. They are made into woodapple juice and woodapple fruit shakes.

Woodapple is a fantastic fruit that you should sample if you have a chance!
