Diwali Sweet Laadu & a Savoury!

Payatham Maavu Laadu
Ingredients:
Mung dal - 1 cup
Bengal gram dal - 2 tbsp
Sugar - 1 cup
Cardamom to taste
Cashews - 15
Ghee - cup
Method:
Chop the cashews into small pieces and keep aside
Dry roast mung dal till roasted to a golden
Now roast bengal gram dal till roasted to golden
Allow to come to room temperature
Grind the roasted dals into a smooth fine powder in a mill or use your mixi
Powder the sugar separately and keep aside
Take a big pan and heat the half cup of ghee
Fry the chopped cashews in the ghee till light brown
Switch off flame
Now add the dal powder, powdered sugar and cardamom to the pan
Now switch on the flame and turn the flame to sim or low
Toss and mix everything very well
When mixed well, switch off flame
Now, take handful of the Laadu mix and roll into Laadu
Do the same with the entire mix
Enjoy your Diwali with yummy Laadus
Mullu Thenkuzhal
Ingredients:
Raw rice - 2 cups
Mung dal - 2tsp
Bengal gram dal - 2tsp
Asaefotida - tsp
Ghee - few tsps
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry
Method:
Lightly heat the dals and rice in a pan
After reaching room temperature grind everything to a smooth powder in flour mill
In a bowl,add the rice mix, few tsps of ghee, asaefotida and salt
Mix everything together
Now add water little by little to make a dough like puri dough
Heat oil for deep frying
Grease a Murukku mold and add some Thenkuzhal dough into it
Shape Thenkuzhal into hot oil
Turn the flame to medium and allow the Mullu Thenkuzhal to cook well
Flip sides and fry till light golden
Enjoy Mullu Thenkuzhal for this Diwali
