Disneyland Corn Dog Recipe Little Red Wagons Hand-Dipped Corn Dog

Hey guys, Im back at Disneyland, checking out the Little Red Wagons famous corn dogs. The Little Red Wagon employees told us that their Disneyland Corn Dog recipe uses a chicken and beef hot dog as the base, and most Disney message boards have confirmed its the John Morrell brand.

The Little Red Wagon is located on Disneylands Main Street, right beside the Plaza Inn. And most critics have confirmed its probably the best corn dog youll ever eat! Currently, Disneylands corn dog will set you back $9.79, which includes sliced apples or a small bag of chips.

If you cant make it to the Little Red Wagon, they also sell corn dogs at Disneyland in the Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland, and Corn Dog Castle inside California Adventure Park. At Corn Dog Castle, you have the option to buy their Hot Link corn dog, which is just slightly higher price at $9.99.

Personally, I think it doesnt matter what kind of hot dog you actually use, and today Im using the Foster Farms Turkey Dogs for this recipe (since my wife doesnt eat beef).

According to several nutrition sites, Disneyland corn dog calories are approximately 375, but I suspect it could be much more. But who's counting anyway? haha!

Disneyland Corn Dog Recipe - Hand Dipped Honey Corn Dog Recipe

Source: Jason Hill @ChefTips Copykat Recipe (We agree it's spot on!)

Wet ingredients:
1 egg
3/4-1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons organic raw honey

Dry ingredients:
1 cup corn meal
1 cup flour
2 Tb. Sugar in the Raw
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Assembly:
8 hot dogs (Disney uses a chicken/beef mixture from John Morrell brand; We used Foster Farms turkey dogs for this video)
Wooden skewers or popsicle sticks
Vegetable oil for frying

Set your deep fryer to 375 F. (I said 350 in the video, but I found 375 is better).

Mix together egg, buttermilk, vegetable oil and honey.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Mix dry and wet ingredients together. Add a bit more buttermilk if needed to make it wet enough to dip the dogs in.

Fill a tall glass with the cornbread batter.

Skewer the hot dogs with a popsicle stick or wooden skewer. Spoon on more batter to ensure every part of the dog is coated in batter. The thicker the better!

Make sure your oil is 375F before dropping the dogs into the oil!

Drop into the hot oil and fry for at least 6 minutes, or until a nice DARK golden brown. You want that crispy crunch!

Drain on paper towel lined plate or platter.

Serve immediately with ketchup and yellow mustard.
