Ingredient quantity
Soaked Toor dal 1 cup
Onion chopped 1 small
Cabbage chopped ¼ cup
Cumin seeds 1tsp
Curry leaves 10-15 leaves
Green chilies chopped 3-4 no.
Ginger 1tsp
Garam masala ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Red chili powder ½ tsp
Coriander leaves chopped 1 ½ tbsp
Fresh coconut grated 2-3 tbsp
Whole red chili 1no.
Salt to taste
Oil for frying


Method
1. Soak the toor for 2 hours to make it soft, so it can be grinded properly.
2. Strain the dal from the water and put in the mixture jar to grind it in the paste form.
3. Now remove it in a bowl add chopped onion, chopped cabbage, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chili chopped, ginger chopped, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, fresh chopped coriander, fresh grated coconut, whole dry red chili, and salt to taste and mix properly.
4. Now add the whole dal in the mixture and mash it properly.
5. Now take a bowl of water and dip your palm in it.
6. Now take the batter in your hands and check if it binds properly.
7. Make the flat vada and dip them in the oil to fry till golden brown.
8. When vadas starts floating up in the oil means your vada’s are cooked properly.
9. Your vada’s are ready to eat.
10. Serve them hot with ketchup.
