Dal Masoor Pulao

Ingredients:
Oil 1/2 cup
Onion (chopped) 1 cup
Tomatoes (chopped) 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Black cardamoms 2
Bay leaves 1
Cinnamon sticks 1
Black peppercorns 1 tsp
Green chilies (sliced) 4-5
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Yogurt 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Salt 2 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Water 1/4 cup + 2 cups + 2 cups
Whole brown lentil soaked (Sabut Daal Masoor) 1 cup
Rice 2 cups
Water 4 cups

Directions:
1. In a pot heat oil and add onion. Cook for 1-2 mins. now add cumin seeds, black cardamoms, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns, green chilies and cook for another minute.
2. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a few seconds. Add tomatoes and cook until tomatoes get soft.
3. Now add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, salt, coriander powder and cook for a min. Add 1/4 cup of water and mix it well.
4. Now add soaked whole brown lentil and cook for 5 mins. Add 2 cups of water and cover and cook for 20-25 mins or until daal is 90% done.
5. Now add soaked rice, 2 cups of water and cook until 80% water has been absorbed.
6. Now cover and steam over low flame for 10-15 mins.
7. Your Dal Masoor Pulao is ready.
